Why I built PDF Toaster

I kept running into the same problem. I needed to fix a PDF: change a line of text, move an image, adjust the layout. Every editor I tried fell short somewhere. Some only let me draw boxes on top of the page. Others were full of small bugs: text that jumped when I moved it, images that disappeared, links that did not line up with the words they belonged to. The details that make a document look right were always the part that was missing.

What I wanted was simple to describe. Open a PDF and treat it like a canvas: click anything on the page and change it. Edit the text that is already there, move and resize what is already there, put things in front of or behind each other, and customise it as far as I need. Then download a file that looks exactly right, everywhere.

I could not find that, so I built it. PDF Toaster is the editor I wanted for myself: one where things work properly, the details are right, and your document never has to leave your device.

How it works

Most online PDF tools work the same way: you upload your file, a server processes it, and you download the result. That is fine for a restaurant menu. It is less fine for a tenancy agreement, a payslip, a medical report or a client contract, which is what most people actually need to merge, sign or shrink.

PDF Toaster takes a different route. The PDF engine runs inside your web browser, so your document is opened, edited and saved on your own device. There is no upload step, nothing waiting in a queue on someone else's server, and nothing for us to store or delete afterwards.

What you can do

• Edit PDFs: change existing text, move and resize images, add text, shapes, tables, links, highlights, notes and signatures, and fill in forms.
• Organise pages: merge, split, reorder, rotate and delete pages.
• Convert: PDF to images, images to PDF, PDF to text and OCR for scanned documents.
• Secure and finish: password protection, true redaction, compression, watermarks and document comparison.

What we promise

• Your files are not uploaded. Processing happens in your browser, on your device.
• No sign-up, no watermark on your results, and no limit on the number of files you process.
• We say plainly what a tool cannot do. Each tool page lists its limits under "Good to know".
