About Watermark

Watermark stamps text or an image across your pages: CONFIDENTIAL on a draft, DRAFT on a contract under review, or your logo on a portfolio. You choose the size, colour, opacity, angle and position, and whether it sits over the content or behind it.

Use it to add a watermark to a PDF, stamp CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT on every page, or put your logo on a document.

How to use it

  1. Choose the PDF.
  2. Pick Text or Image. Type the text, or choose the image file.
  3. Set the Font, Size, Colour, Opacity and Rotation, then the Position and Layer (Over the content or Behind the content).
  4. Check the preview, then press Add watermark and download.

Good to know

  • A watermark behind the content is hidden by pages that have a solid background, such as full-page scans. Use Over the content with a low opacity for those.
  • Text watermarks use the bundled Noto fonts, covering Latin, Greek, Cyrillic and Devanagari.
  • You can watermark only some pages, such as the first or all odd pages.

Questions and answers

Can a watermark be removed later?

It is written into the page content, so it cannot simply be switched off in a PDF reader. Determined people with editing software can still remove it, so do not treat it as security.

Why can I not see my watermark on a scanned PDF?

A scan is one picture covering the whole page, which hides anything placed behind it. Put the watermark Over the content instead.

Can I use my logo as a watermark?

Yes. Choose Image and pick your logo file; PNG with a transparent background looks best.

Can I put the watermark in a corner?

Yes. Choose any of the seven positions, from Top left to Bottom right.
