About Split PDF

Split breaks one PDF into several. Use it to separate a scanned stack into individual letters, send each chapter as its own file, or get a document under an email attachment limit.

There are four ways to split: by page ranges you type, every N pages, at each top-level bookmark, or into parts no larger than a file size you choose.

Use it to separate PDF pages, break a large PDF into smaller files, cut out chapters, or divide a scan into individual documents.

How to use it

  1. Choose the PDF you want to split.
  2. Pick a method: By page ranges, Every N pages, by bookmarks, or By file size.
  3. Fill in the ranges, the number of pages per file, or the largest file size.
  4. Press Split. Several files come back together as a ZIP.

Good to know

  • Splitting by bookmarks uses the top-level bookmarks only; nested ones stay inside their part.
  • When splitting by size, a single page that is already bigger than the limit becomes a file of its own, and you are told which one.
  • Password protection is not copied to the new files.

Questions and answers

How do I split a PDF into single pages?

Choose Every N pages and set Pages per file to 1. Each page becomes its own PDF, delivered together in a ZIP.

Can I split a PDF to fit an email size limit?

Yes. Choose By file size and enter the largest size your email allows, such as 10 MB. Parts are filled with as many pages as fit.

What format do the split files come in?

Each part is a normal PDF. When there is more than one, they are bundled into a single ZIP for one download.

Does splitting change the content of the pages?

No. Pages are copied unchanged into the new files.
