About Repair PDF

Repair PDF rescues files that will not open or show errors, typically after an interrupted download, a failed email attachment or a crashed program. It rebuilds the file's internal index and saves a clean copy.

Use it to fix a corrupted PDF, open a damaged PDF file, or recover a PDF that will not load.

How to use it

  1. Choose the damaged PDF.
  2. Press Repair.
  3. Download the repaired copy and check that the pages you need are there.

Good to know

  • Repair recovers files whose index or ending is damaged, which is the most common kind of corruption.
  • If part of the page data itself is destroyed, those pages cannot be recovered.

Why will my PDF not open?

Often the file was cut short during a download or save, which damages its index. Repair rebuilds the index from what is there.

Can every damaged PDF be fixed?

No. Files with a broken index usually can. If the content of pages is corrupt, those pages are lost.
