Guide

About Edit metadata

Every PDF carries hidden details: a title, an author, a subject, keywords and the program that made it. Edit metadata lets you correct them, so the right title shows in browser tabs and search results, or clear them before you share a file.

Use it to change a PDF's title, remove the author name from a PDF, or edit the document properties before publishing.

How to use it

  1. Choose the PDF to see its current details.
  2. Change or clear the title, author, subject and keywords.
  3. Press Save details and download.

Good to know

  • The title you set is what many browsers and readers show instead of the file name.
  • Some PDFs also carry a second copy of these details in XMP format. That copy is left unchanged.

Questions and answers

Why does my PDF show the wrong title?

Readers show the title stored in the file, which is often left over from a template. Set the correct one here.

Can I remove the author's name from a PDF?

Yes. Clear the Author field and save.

Does metadata affect search engines?

For PDFs published online, the title and subject can be shown in search results, so accurate details help.

Does editing metadata change the pages?

No. Only the document details change.
